Work for 17th September

Hello!

We are having a trip to the LRC today to have a look at some of the resources available to support you with your exploration of Plath, Larkin and Hamlet. While other groups are in the LRC you need to consolidate your learning of the poems we have studied so far.

Each of you needs to write an analysis of the poem you focussed on in your groups. This means getting the notes you made in order and developing your ideas in full paragraphs, with close reference to the text. Aim to go through the poem systematically, using the linguistic frameworks (discourse, lexis and semantics, grammar and phonology).

When you have done this, you need to post your analysis onto the Plath and Larkin Padlet page:

www.padlet.com/nst/plathandlarkin

Next, please make sure you read the following biographical notes about Plath and Larkin. They are very useful and will consolidate and develop your understanding and knowledge of the poets themselves.

Plath Biography

Larkin Biography

Save the documents and highlight the important pieces of information. It is particularly important for you to start to understand what the critics say. Make a note of any interesting critical point.

This needs to be completed for homework and make sure you are prepared for Hamlet next lesson!
